Intro to The Heart Atlas

We live in precarious times. And miraculous times.

In some ways, humanity has never been as advanced and evolved as it currently is. And in other ways, it seems we have never been in more peril than we are right now.

This is the complex landscape of a modern world that has seen remarkable advances in technology, science, medicine, and industry in a very short amount of time. This is also a landscape filled with poverty, natural disasters, the continued subjugation of indigenous peoples, climate devastation, violence, and at times, inconceivable cruelty. The landscape is at once stark and desolate in places…and in others…lush, abundant and beautiful beyond words.

We live in a world of paradox where resources are not shared fairly and many suffer from a lack of basic necessities such as clean food, air, water, and a safe place to rest their head at night.

The Heart Atlas, is to be an exploration of all that ails and also redeems this world.

The intention is to share stories that often don’t make the front page of the newspaper or make the evening headlines. These are the stories of the people, and the animals, and the land, which beg to be heard and not to be forgotten.
